A CHOSEN INSTRUMENT FOR A SPECIFIC MISSION

Min. Benjamin F. Buckner III Acts 9:15-16

1. THE CHOSEN INSTRUMENT v15a

15a But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine,

Ananias reservation about the chosen (Romans9:15-17)

Ananias Knew who Paul was, and what he had set out to do to the saints, but it is God who choses who he wants to.

Paul is now an instrument of the Lords John10:27)

Paul had an encounter with Jesus and heard his voice and obeyed to follow him. Paul is now one of Gods Instruments in his Plan, a chosen instrument of Mine.

2. THE CHOSEN MISSION v15b

15b to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;

  • Called to complete Gods Promise (Genesis12:1-3) Ephesians3:6
  • Paul's mission wasn't a new Mission, Paul was called to complete what God told Abraham in Genesis. "And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed."
  • Called to Bring the Gospel to the Gentiles. (Galatians1:15-16

Paul understood that he was called before he knew he was called for this mission. God set him apart before he was born, so everything that Paul learned and went through was intentional for his calling.

3. THE COST OF THE MISSION v16

16 for I will show him how much he must suffer for My name's sake."

  • Suffering is a part of the Mission (1 Peter2:21) (Matthew10:22)
  • Christ is the Blueprint for us, he suffered for us, so once we accept his call we to must suffer for his name sake. We will be disliked, treated poorly, and even hated because we follow Jesus.
  • Rejoice in our suffering (Romans5:3-5)

We can rejoice in the suffering for the Lord because this type of suffering builds a character in us that the world can't give us, we can only get this Joy from the Holy Spirit.
